Alec earned his J.D. from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2024. Before joining McLean & Armstrong LLP, Alec worked as legal support staff and as a temporary articling student at a large international law firm in Vancouver.

During law school, Alec was appointed as Ombudsperson for UBC’s student union. As a part of his legal studies, he served as a British Columbia Provincial Court judicial intern and traveled on circuit court to remote communities in British Columbia. He also volunteered as a student clinician and later clinic head for the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program’s Chinatown clinic, providing legal assistance to underserved Mandarin and Cantonese-speaking clients on diverse legal matters such as wills and estates, residential tenancy disputes, and small claims construction cases.

Prior to his legal career, Alec spent over a decade running his own construction business specializing in multi-trade residential renovations. He also holds a Bachelor of Music in Opera Performance from UBC and performed in several operatic and choral tours throughout North America and Europe.

Alec is fluent in Mandarin. Outside the office, Alec is a devoted father and husband. He enjoys spending quality time with his family and is an active member in his church community.
