Senior Litigation Paralegal

Job description

We have a rare, exciting opportunity available to join our team. With a focus primarily on Commercial and Construction Litigation, namely Dispute Resolution, Contract & Procurement Development, and Contract Security, this is an excellent opportunity to work with a talented, close-knit team of lawyers and paralegals alike. With ideally 10+ years of experience, we are seeking a confident paralegal to spearhead case management, draft and file court documents, as well as provide leadership where needed. The ideal candidate offers advanced knowledge of litigation procedures, a thorough understanding of Land Title Office filings, and is well versed in matters relating to court preparation, mediation, arbitration, and e-discovery. We strive to provide staff with a collaborative, supportive environment, as well as a flexible hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting/reviewing/analyzing/filing pleadings, agreements, contracts and all court documents
  • Assisting with case management
  • Litigation preparation (gathering/organizing documents for court, mediation, arbitration, XFD, Trial, etc.)
  • Maintaining a bring-forward system for key dates/limitation periods
  • Draft and file land documents
  • Book chambers and trial dates
  • Rules research (court and land)
  • Preparation and production of list of documents/affidavits of record in Everlaw
  • Process incoming list of documents/affidavits of record from other counsel
  • Correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, court, LTO as needed
  • Perform various searches (land, court, bankruptcy, PPR, corporate)
  • Maintain file checklist (pleadings and land)
  • Basic administrative tasks (photocopy/scan)

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience as a Paralegal
  • Advanced knowledge of the law and legal procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of Land Title Office and land documents
  • Superior leadership and management skills
  • Some corporate experience would be an added asset
