McLean & Armstrong

Our Team

Ryan received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria, and a Law degree from the University of Alberta, graduating in 2007. Following law school, Ryan articled and practiced in Calgary, Alberta, including as a member of the Construction & Engineering group at a large national law firm, followed by an in-house construction law role in the oil & gas sector.

Since moving to BC, Ryan acted as General Counsel for an established Western Canadian Design-Builder, and his current practice focuses on construction litigation, with an emphasis on delay and deficiency disputes and builders’ lien litigation.

Ryan is called to the Bar in both BC and Alberta, having conducted numerous trials in both Provinces, and appearing before the Alberta Court of Appeal in a municipal zoning dispute. He also has extensive experience before a variety of municipal tribunals and boards, and has represented clients in dozens of mediations and arbitrations. Ryan’s diverse construction background allows him to draw from a multitude of sources to best assist his clients.

Ryan grew up in small towns throughout BC, and served in the Canadian Army after graduating high school. Outside of law, Ryan is a husband and father first, and also enjoys golfing, dirt-biking, and downhill mountain biking.
